Lesson Terms

Last updated: 25 May 2026

1. Who we are

Onyx Driving is a trading name for driving instruction services delivered by Fahim Nazir, a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI Grade A), based in Bradford, UK. References to "we", "us", or "Onyx" in these terms mean Fahim Nazir trading as Onyx Driving.

Business details & address for service: Fahim Nazir, trading as Onyx Driving, Bradford, West Yorkshire. A postal address at which legal documents may be served is available in writing on request via the contact details in section 7, as required by the business-names trading disclosure rules.

2. Booking and payment

Lessons can be booked via WhatsApp, phone, or our website booking form. Confirmation happens via WhatsApp once we agree a time, area, and price.

Pay-as-you-go (PAYG): £35 per hour, payable at the end of each lesson by cash or bank transfer to Fahim directly. No card payment processed on the website for PAYG.

Block of 10: £330 total, payable upfront via Stripe Checkout on the website (secure card payment). Saves you £20.

Intensive course: £700 for 20 hours, payable upfront via Stripe Checkout, including test booking and mock test.

All prices are all-in — fuel, vehicle insurance and use of the dual-controlled instruction vehicle are included. No surprise fees.

3. Cancellation

By you: Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the lesson. Less than 24 hours' notice and the lesson is chargeable in full — we can't fill the slot at short notice. Genuine emergencies (illness with proof, family bereavement, severe weather warnings) are handled case-by-case with discretion.

By us: If we need to cancel (illness, vehicle issue, etc.), we'll rebook at the next available mutually-convenient time. No charge.

Block refunds: Unused hours from either block are refundable, provided you give us at least 7 days' written notice. Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 14 days.

14-day cooling-off (online package purchases): Because the Block of 10, Block of 20 and Intensive courses are bought online, you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days of purchase and receive a refund. If you ask us to start your lessons within that 14-day window, you're agreeing we can begin straight away — and if you then cancel, we'll refund you minus the value of any lessons already taken. Once a package has been fully delivered, the cancellation right no longer applies. To cancel, simply email or WhatsApp us.

4. Conduct during lessons

For everyone's safety, learners must:

  • Hold a valid provisional UK driving licence and bring it to every lesson
  • Be fit and able to drive — not under the influence of alcohol, drugs (including some prescription medication), or excessive fatigue
  • Wear corrective lenses if your licence requires them
  • Wear comfortable, safe footwear (no flip-flops, no high heels above 2 inches)
  • Follow the instructor's directions at all times

We reserve the right to refuse or terminate a lesson at any time if a learner is not fit to drive safely. No refund for lessons terminated for safety reasons.

5. Driving test bookings

Onyx can use the instructor vehicle for your DVSA practical test, subject to availability and prior agreement. The DVSA test fee is paid by you directly to the DVSA and is separate from lesson fees. Use of the vehicle for the test is included in PAYG and block-of-10 pricing for current learners.

6. Insurance and liability

The Onyx instruction vehicle is fully insured for driving tuition, including comprehensive cover for the learner under instructor supervision. You are insured to drive during lessons under our policy.

You are responsible for your personal belongings during the lesson — we don't accept liability for items left in the vehicle.

For collisions: in the rare event of a fault accident during a supervised lesson, our insurance covers it. The instructor is in charge of the vehicle and ultimately responsible for control of the lesson environment.

7. Complaints

If something isn't right, please tell us — directly. Most things can be resolved with a conversation. Email us at hello@onyxdrivingschool.co.uk, or WhatsApp +44 7954 726531. We respond same-day from Fahim Monday to Saturday, within 5 working days at the latest for formal complaints.

If we can't resolve a complaint, you can refer it to the DVSA Consumer Affairs team via the DVSA website.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to active learners via WhatsApp. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any disputes will first be resolved through good-faith conversation, then mediation if needed, and finally — only if all else fails — by the courts of England and Wales.

In plain English

Book a lesson, show up sober and with your licence, follow safety instructions, pay on time, give 24 hours' notice to cancel. We'll teach you to drive properly. If anything goes wrong, talk to us first.
