Frequently asked questions
How many driving lessons will I need? +
The DVSA average is 45 hours of lessons + 22 hours of private practice. Some people pass in 25-30 hours, others need 60+. Your instructor will assess honestly after lesson 1.
Manual or automatic — which should I choose? +
Manual gives you more options long-term (you can drive automatics on a manual licence, but not vice versa). Automatic is easier to learn and increasingly common with EVs. If you're unsure, start manual — you can always switch.
What's the difference between PAYG and a block of 10? +
Block of 10 saves you £20 (£330 vs £350) plus gets you priority scheduling. We recommend blocks once you've had your first lesson and know you're committed.
Do I need to do the theory test before I start lessons? +
No — you can start lessons anytime after getting your provisional licence. We recommend booking your theory test once you're a few weeks into practical lessons.
Can I get a female instructor? +
Not yet — we're actively recruiting female ADIs. Register your interest on our female-instructor page and we'll prioritise you the moment a female instructor joins the team.
Which languages do you teach in? +
English, Urdu, Punjabi and Mirpuri — Fahim teaches in all four. Pahari and Polish lessons coming soon — we're recruiting Pahari and Polish-speaking instructors. Register interest on the relevant language page and we'll match you the moment we have capacity.
Which test centres do you cover? +
Bradford (Heaton), Bradford (Thornbury), and Halifax. We have route-specific prep for all three.
What's your cancellation policy? +
Free cancellation with 24+ hours' notice. Less than 24 hours, the lesson is chargeable (we can't fill the slot at short notice). Emergencies handled case-by-case.
Do you do intensive / crash courses? +
Yes — 20 hours over two weeks. Doing twenty hours in a single week means four hours a day for five days straight, which is more than most learners take in usefully. Spaced practice beating crammed practice is one of the most replicated findings in learning research — the sources are set out on our pricing page. Includes test booking and a mock test.
Can I bring my own car for lessons? +
We use our own dual-controlled cars for safety and insurance reasons. For Pass Plus or refresher courses in your own car, ask us directly.
