How much does the Onyx franchise fee cost?

£100 per month, flat — about £25 per week. That's a fraction of the typical national-franchise fee, which usually runs £150–£200+ per week. You keep 100% of your lesson revenue. No commission, no booking-system cut, no surprise add-ons.

Question 2

Do I have to use an Onyx car or can I use my own?

Accepted Answer

You use your own dual-controlled car (your insurance, your fuel, your maintenance). That is part of why our fee is so low — we are not subsidising vehicle leasing the way national franchises do.

Question 3

Can I keep my existing learners if I join?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have no exclusivity clause on pre-existing learners. New learners we route to you via Onyx are part of the franchise; existing private clients you bring in are yours.

Question 4

What if I want to leave Onyx after joining?

Accepted Answer

30 days notice either side. If you want to take Onyx-routed learners with you when you leave, the rate is £25 per active learner (equivalent to one month of the franchise fee). No traps, no penalties.

How long is the hiring process?

Accepted Answer

Target is 7 days from first contact to offer. Most national franchises take 3-6 weeks. The bottlenecks are the trial-lesson observation and the standard DBS/DVLA/insurance checks. We commit to communicating within 24 hours at every stage — including if it is a no.

I'm a PDI still in training. Can I apply?

Yes — especially if you are on Part 2 or Part 3. Fahim provides mentorship and Part 3 prep as part of onboarding. You can teach paid lessons under your pink license while finishing your qualification. This is one of the strongest reasons to join Onyx as a trainee rather than going solo.

Do I get a guaranteed number of lessons per week?

Honestly, no. Lead volume builds over the first few months as your area's pages rank on Google and as your learner reviews accumulate. Realistic starter range: 5-15 lessons per week in months 1-3, scaling as your area's pipeline matures. We will never make a promise we can't back up.

What are your priority recruiting lanes right now?

We are hiring great instructors of every background. We have three priority lanes because demand from Bradford learners in those communities significantly exceeds supply: female ADIs, Polish-speaking ADIs, and Pahari-speaking ADIs. Application from any of these groups gets fast-tracked.
